WoHo Berlin

WoHo Berlin is a high-rise structure rising to about 98 meters, built primarily from timber with steel and concrete elements reinforcing the staircases and elevator shafts. The building houses apartments, shops, offices, and community facilities, with public plazas and green areas accessible to both residents and visitors.

The building was constructed as Germany's first wooden high-rise, surpassing a Norwegian structure in height. This project marks a turning point in modern construction, demonstrating how traditional materials can be used at large scales.

The building blends residential, commercial, and community spaces in one location, creating a mixed-use center for the neighborhood. Daily life here brings together residents, shoppers, and workers who share the same public areas and plazas.

The location sits near Potsdamer Platz and Anhalter Bahnhof station, making it easily reachable by public transport. Visitors can freely explore the public areas and enjoy the green spaces without needing special arrangements or advance bookings.

The timber in the structure forms a protective layer of charcoal when exposed to fire, enhancing the building's safety. This natural process works better than many expect, showing that wood can be as reliable as steel for tall structures.
