Elisabethsee, Artificial lake with campsite in Eickum, Herford, Germany

Elisabethsee is a body of water in Eickum serving as the centerpiece of a recreational facility with lodging options. The grounds contain tent pitches and chalets alongside a restaurant housed in a converted farmhouse for visitors who wish to stay overnight.

In the early 1960s an Eickum farmer sought a use for land too wet and too hilly for farming, so he dammed the Eickumer Mühlenbach into a pond and named it after his daughter Elisabeth. Southwest of the water he laid out a five-hectare campsite, run alongside the farm at first; since 2011 the founder's family has operated it full-time in the third generation.

The founder's original Kotten now houses the campsite restaurant and its beer garden. On the grounds campers find a sports field, a beach volleyball court, a basketball court and a boule lane, plus play and barbecue areas; in summer a holiday programme runs for children.

The water maintains good bathing quality and stays relatively shallow, making it safe for family swimmers. Trained lifeguards are present on weekends and during summer holidays to watch over those in the water.

The restaurant building was originally a Kotten, a small farmstead belonging to the founder, and the campsite has been run full-time by his family's third generation since 2011. Around 400 pitches serve long-term campers, mostly from the surrounding area.
