The building was constructed in 1852 for merchant Johannes Knagge following his return from Java. Major updates came in 1906 when heating systems and modern improvements were installed throughout the structure.
The dining room features a hand-painted ceiling that reflects the craftsmanship valued during that era. Two terracotta statues on the grounds depict Art and Science, showing what mattered to the original owner and his circle.
The building is located at Ahlhornerstrasse 10 and currently belongs to the Catholic Church of Wildeshausen. Visitors should be aware that this is a protected heritage property with limited public access.
The gable triangle holds a hand-crafted glass mosaic made in Munich showing praying angels surrounding a Sacred Heart. The mosaic artist Simon Theodor Rauecker created this specific artwork exclusively for this residence.
