Wildeshausen, District capital in Oldenburg, Germany.
This town extends along the Hunte River, covering 89 square kilometers with historic buildings and two town halls in Lower Saxony.
Following the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, Sweden received Wildeshausen as a fief for Gustav Gustavsson af Vasaborg, son of King Gustavus Adolphus.
The Gildefest festival occurs annually during Whitsun since 1403, with the mayor taking the role of Guild General during celebrations.
The marketplace contains a fountain from 1747, surrounded by merchant houses and serves as the central gathering point for local events.
The Pestruper burial ground near Wildeshausen preserves over 500 ancient tombs dating from the Bronze Age through different historical periods.
