Wiederkunft Christi, Catholic church building in Kolbermoor, Germany
Wiederkunft Christi is a Catholic church in Kolbermoor featuring a 41-meter concrete tower that rests on deep concrete piles because of high groundwater levels in the area. The building houses an organ manufactured by Frenger & Eder with 23 registers across two manuals and a pedal, installed in 2012.
The church was consecrated on December 19, 1971, by Auxiliary Bishop Matthias Defregger, representing a significant moment in the community's religious life. The independent tower was completed later, in November 1990.
Inside the church, a large mosaic cross hangs above the priest's bench, while artist Werner Persy created extensive Stations of the Cross on the concrete walls. These artworks show how faith and modern artistic expression come together in the space.
You can explore the interior at a comfortable pace while observing the architectural details from various angles. The tower height and surrounding terrain provide clear landmarks for finding the church from elsewhere in town.
Five bells cast in 1990 bear specific inscriptions, including 'Ich komme wieder' on the Christ bell and 'Maria bitt für uns' on the Mary bell. These words connect religious messages directly to the ringing instruments that mark the rhythm of daily life in the town.
