Fachhochschule der Deutschen Bundespost Berlin
Fachhochschule der Deutschen Bundespost Berlin, Educational institution for telecommunications engineering in Berlin, Germany
Fachhochschule der Deutschen Bundespost Berlin is an educational building within the former Reichspostzentralamt complex, displaying expressionist architecture with clean lines and functional design. Its spacious upper floors were designed to accommodate hands-on technical instruction and laboratory work for engineering students.
The school originated as an engineering college for postal services in 1950 and expanded its focus on telecommunications technology over several decades. It ceased operations in 1995 following the privatization of German postal services.
The faculty developed technical curriculum combining mathematics, physics, computer science, and telecommunications technology to prepare future engineers for German postal services.
The building is located within a historic complex and may have limited public access due to its role as an architectural monument. It is advisable to check beforehand if interior visits are permitted or if viewing is restricted to the exterior.
The institution published two academic journals between 1972 and 1990, including a telecommunications study guide and FH-Information for engineering students.
