Alter Park

Alter Park is a green space in Tempelhof-Schöneberg featuring a mix of conifers, pines, larches, and ornamental shrubs across its grounds. The layout spreads between two main streets with a system of interconnected walking paths throughout.

In the early 1900s, the Berlin-Tempelhofer Terrain-Gesellschaft transformed this vacant land into a park, which local authorities took over in 1907. This development marked the shift from unused land into public green space for the neighborhood.

The park displays contemporary artworks scattered throughout its grounds by local artists. These pieces create moments of visual interest as you walk through the different areas.

The park connects with adjacent green spaces to form a larger network of paths for jogging and walking. Visitors will find well-maintained routes that flow easily in different directions.

At the center sits Klarensee, a lake formed from a glacial ice hole. It underwent ecological restoration in 2007 to support reed growth and improve water quality.
