Sportpark Lankow, Sports complex in Lankow district, Schwerin, Germany
Sportpark Lankow is a sports facility with multiple fields for football and hockey on different surfaces. The complex features two natural grass pitches and three artificial turf fields used for competitions and training.
The facility was built in 1974 and underwent a complete redesign in 1996 by a Hamburg-based architect's landscaping firm. This renovation gave the complex its current layout and structure.
The northern grass field with its 2000-seat grandstand serves as the home venue for FC Mecklenburg Schwerin and is the center of local football life. On match days, fans gather here to support their team throughout the season.
The site is accessible by tram line 2, which stops at Rahlstedter Strasse or Lankow-Siedlung stations every 15 minutes. This public transport connection makes it easy to reach from the city center.
A major portion of the facility's development happened between 2009 and 2022, with significant investment in upgrading the southern field. This recent expansion reflects how important the complex remains for local sport.
