Accra Sports Stadium

Accra Sports Stadium is a football facility in the Ministries area with a capacity of around 40,000 seats and a roofed west stand. The grounds include tiered seating sections and an enclosed field surrounded by a running track for athletic events.

The facility opened in 1952 as a center for sports activities in the capital. Major renovation work in 2006 expanded the seating nearly twofold and added contemporary roofing structures to the grounds.

The venue draws football supporters from across the city who gather to cheer for their favorite teams during matches. These events create a vibrant social space where people from different neighborhoods come together around their shared passion for the sport.

The venue sits centrally in Accra and is easily accessible by bus, taxi, and other transport options from most neighborhoods. Arriving early is advisable, especially when popular teams play, as seating areas can fill up quickly.

The west stand roof features special reflective materials that shift in color depending on the sun's position and intensity throughout the day. This creates an ever-changing appearance that becomes especially noticeable during midday and afternoon hours.
