Construction of Cedi House commenced in 1970 under the design guidance of Ghanaian architect Professor John Owusu Addo and reached completion in 1973.

The name Cedi House reflects the connection to Ghana's financial sector, housing both the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Stock Exchange.

The building includes two underground levels and contains multiple departments of the Bank of Ghana, including Banking and Supervision sections.

Professor John Owusu Addo incorporated specific architectural elements that demonstrate the fusion of Ghanaian design with modern office functionality.
