Archaeological Museum of Mykonos

The museum building stands in a neoclassical style structure above the old harbor of Mykonos, featuring spacious exhibition halls and Cycladic architectural elements.

The Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, established in 1902, preserves findings from the Purification Pit excavated by scholar D. Stavropoulos in 1898 on Rheneia islet.

The museum exhibits ancient artifacts including vases, memorial statues, columns, and funerary urns from Rheneia and Mykonos, dating from 3000 BC to first century BC.

The museum operates daily except Tuesdays from November through March between 8:30 and 15:30, while summer hours extend from April through October between 9:00 and 16:00.

A remarkable seventh-century BC pithos discovered in 1961 depicts detailed scenes of the Capture of Troy, showing soldiers attacking victims during the legendary conflict.
