Mykonos windmills, Historic windmills in Mykonos, Greece
Seven cylindrical white windmills stand in a row on a hill near the sea in the southwestern part of Mykonos Town.
During the 17th to 19th centuries, these windmills produced flour and hardtack bread for ships traveling through the Aegean Sea.
The Bonis Windmill functions as an agricultural museum, displaying traditional milling equipment and demonstrating the wheat production process.
Visitors can reach the windmills by walking through narrow paths from Mykonos Town, with access available throughout the day.
The windmills maintain their original wooden machinery, including the entire wheat grinding mechanism from the 1700s in the Geronymos Mill.
