Kouri forest

Kouri Forest is a wooded area near Efxinoupoli with mature oak trees and two artificial lakes that enhance the landscape. Walking paths, playgrounds, outdoor chess tables, and a restaurant are distributed throughout the grounds for visitors to enjoy.

The forest was originally much larger, stretching from Neohoraki to Almiros beach, but was reduced in size through livestock grazing and logging activities. Today the remaining woodland is recognized as a protected Natura 2000 site and is preserved for its ecological value.

The forest welcomes visitors who come to experience nature directly and understand how woodlands function and need protection. Schools and families spend time here to learn about local habitats and develop a connection to the natural world.

The forest is easy to navigate with marked walking paths and various activity areas spread throughout the grounds. The facilities allow visitors to move between active pursuits and relaxed breaks depending on their interests.

The forest contains three different oak species that together form a distinctive ecosystem, making it a valuable habitat for local plants and wildlife. This variety of tree types resulted from the natural conditions that developed in this region over time.
