Kolymbithres, Beach with granite formations in Naoussa Bay, Greece
Kolymbithres is a beach area east of Naoussa that consists of several small coves separated by large granite outcrops. Each cove has its own sandy beach and is surrounded by rounded, smooth rock formations shaped by wind and sea over millennia.
The granite deposits in this area formed millions of years ago through volcanic and geological processes. Over countless generations, ocean waves and weathering have transformed the rocks into their current smooth, rounded shapes.
Fishermen from nearby Naoussa have relied on these sheltered coves for centuries as safe anchorage points. Today you still notice their presence through fishing nets and boats that rest against the rocky shores.
You can reach the different coves by boat from Naoussa or by walking along the rocky coastline. Wear shoes with good grip since the paths and rock surfaces are uneven and sometimes slippery.
The rock pools between the granite formations become natural bathing areas at low tide and can warm up to bathwater temperatures. This makes the coves especially pleasant for swimming during early morning or late afternoon hours.
