Holy Meletios monastery, Medieval Orthodox monastery in Kithairon mountains, Greece
The monastery stands at an altitude of 520 meters among pine trees, featuring a cruciform church with a central dome and rectangular enclosure.
Saint Meletios established the monastery in 1081, receiving support from Emperor Alexios Komnenos who granted privileges and tax revenues from Attica.
The monastery contains frescoes from the 17th century in its narthex, while fragments of 12th-century wall paintings remain in the main church.
The monastic complex measures 50 by 60 meters and includes multiple chapels, with Saint Theodore chapel located west of the main structure.
The monastery transformed from housing 300 monks in 1141 to becoming a nunnery in 1950 after its refoundation in 1928.
