Red Beach

Red Beach is a coastal strip on Santorini with dark volcanic sand and red cliffs rising steeply toward the water. Black pebbles line the shore and create contrast with the blue Mediterranean, while the prominent red rock formation towers behind the beach.

The landscape formed from ancient volcanic activity on Santorini that deposited iron-rich sediments and shaped the red cliffs. This geological history created the distinctive features visible at this location today.

Access to the beach follows a marked trail from the parking area, and sturdy shoes are needed because of rocky ground. Arriving early is wise, as space is limited and the paths face full sun during hot weather.
