Ladiko Bay, Cove in Rhodes, Greece
Ladiko Bay is a cove on the east coast of Rhodes, Greece, consisting of two back-to-back inlets separated by a small peninsula. The larger inlet has a mix of sand and gravel, while the smaller one, known as Anthony Quinn Beach, is pebbly and better for swimming.
In the 1960s, the actor Anthony Quinn bought the smaller bay from the Greek government, but according to his family, the sale was never completed. The bay has since become known as Anthony Quinn Beach.
The name Ladiko comes from the Greek word for the container used to store olive oil, as the bay was once a hub for loading and unloading olive oil. Today, you can see small boats sailing near the shore and relax at the tavernas that rent sun loungers.
You can reach Ladiko Bay by car or on foot from Faliraki, with parking available nearby. It is best to arrive early in the morning, especially in July and August, to find a spot before the crowds arrive.
The rocky seabed and clear waters make Ladiko Bay a good spot for snorkeling, and the bay is well hidden so there are hardly ever any waves. This makes it very child-friendly, but the space to play can be limited in high season.
