Seven Springs

Seven Springs is a site with seven natural freshwater springs in Greece that flow year-round through a dark tunnel into a small artificial lake. Tall pine and plane trees surround the area, providing shade and relief from heat.

The tunnel connecting the springs to the lake was built during the Italian occupation of Rhodes between 1920 and 1931. This project shows how people at that time worked with natural water flow to create something lasting.

Local legend speaks of healing powers in these waters, and people from nearby villages have long relied on them as a vital supply. The site holds meaning for communities as a place where nature provides what is needed.

Entering the tunnel requires waterproof shoes since you walk through flowing water. Parking is available near the entrance, making the site easy to reach by car.

The tunnel stretches roughly 186 meters through complete darkness while you wade through icy-cold water. This unusual experience combines natural wonder with a fascinating piece of human engineering from the past.
