Musée d'Orsay, Art museum in 7th arrondissement, France

The Musée d'Orsay occupies a former railway station building along the Seine River, featuring grand halls and a central gallery beneath ornate glass ceilings.

Originally designed as the Gare d'Orsay by architect Victor Laloux in 1900, the building transformed into a museum in 1986 under President François Mitterrand's direction.

The museum exhibits French art from 1848 to 1914, containing works by Monet, Van Gogh, Degas, and Renoir across three main exhibition levels.

Visitors can access the museum Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with extended hours until 9:45 PM on Thursdays and free entry on first Sundays.

The grand central gallery features an enormous clock face, preserved from the original railway station, offering views across the Seine to Sacré-Cœur.
