Tour Part-Dieu, Skyscraper in Part-Dieu district, Lyon, France
Tour Part-Dieu rises 169.4 meters into the Lyon skyline with its cylindrical structure and distinctive pyramid-shaped top spanning 23 meters in height.
The building, designed by American architect Araldo Cossutta, opened in 1977 as the fourth tallest structure in France at that time.
Local residents named the tower 'Le Crayon' due to its pencil-like shape, which became an integral part of its visual identity after 2008.
The tower contains 42 floors, with the Radisson Blu Hotel occupying the top ten levels and twenty elevators serving the building's occupants.
The architect specifically designed the roof height to match the elevation of Notre Dame de Fourvière basilica in Lyon.
