Église Saint-Pothin

Église Saint-Pothin is a Neoclassical church built with a Latin cross layout, topped by a central dome positioned above the transept crossing. The interior space is organized by Ionic columns supporting two side aisles, creating a balanced and symmetrical arrangement throughout.

Construction took place between 1841 and 1843 under architect Christophe Crépet, during a period of urban expansion in Lyon. The church was part of the development of the Brotteaux district, reflecting the city's growth during this era.

The church is dedicated to Saint Pothin, one of Lyon's earliest Christian martyrs and an important figure in the city's religious history. The interior decoration, including stained glass and paintings, reflects the artistic tastes of the period when the building was completed.
