Le Pontet is a French commune of approximately 18,000 inhabitants located in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, bordering Avignon and forming an integral part of Greater Avignon.
The commune gained its autonomy in 1925 after being a district of Avignon, its name originating from a small wooden bridge built in the early 16th century and later rebuilt in stone in 1557.
