Clichy is a commune in the arrondissement of Nanterre in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, spreading across both banks of the Seine. The streets alternate between residential blocks, office complexes and green spaces that together form a densely built suburban landscape.
The name Clipiacum appeared in documents for the first time in the 6th century when the area served as hunting grounds for nobility. Factories settled along the river in the 19th century and transformed the commune into an industrial center.
Locals often call the area along the right bank of the Seine „Village de Clichy,
Metro line 13 stops at Mairie de Clichy station and links the commune to central Paris. The Transilien suburban train serves Clichy-Levallois station and provides another connection into the city.
The corporate headquarters of L'Oréal and Bic are located here and shape the cityscape with their modern buildings. Several parks spread across the commune and offer recreational areas between the business districts.
