Thueyts

Thueyts is a commune in Ardèche that sits on a basalt platform between mountains and the Ardèche Valley. The village contains numerous medieval and Renaissance buildings, including the former notary residence of Eschallier and the Lords of Goys mansion on Mercière Street.

The settlement grew as a medieval village and preserved its network of historic buildings from that period and later. The place served as an important agricultural center for centuries, shaping both its architecture and community.

The village displays two large murals that tell the story of its past connection to silk production and cherry farming. These artworks reflect what once sustained the community economically.

The village is easy to explore on foot and works well to visit on Friday mornings or summer Tuesday afternoons when the local market takes place with regional products and fresh goods. Comfortable shoes help when walking through the village due to its varying elevations.

The Devils Bridge spans across the Ardèche River and features a Via Ferrata course alongside hiking routes, complete with monkey bridges, Nepalese bridges, and zip lines. This setup attracts visitors who enjoy outdoor physical activities alongside natural scenery.
