Riaumont

Riaumont is a religious shrine on a hilltop near Liévin, comprising a chapel, classroom buildings, residential quarters, and a museum within one unified complex. The various structures house teaching spaces, living accommodations, and exhibition areas integrated throughout the site.

Father Albert Revet founded this institution in 1960 as a boarding school to provide education and care for children under state supervision. The facility evolved into a center combining religious instruction with practical and communal activities.

The shrine houses collections honoring World War I chaplains and displays scouting traditions with historical uniforms and gear from different periods. Visitors can observe how these movements shaped the place over time.

The site is best explored on foot, as buildings are connected by pathways and stairs throughout the complex. Visitors should be prepared for varying terrain and adapt to the weather conditions typical of northern France.
