Golf de Fontainebleau, Golf course in Fontainebleau, France.
Golf de Fontainebleau is an 18-hole course spanning 6016 meters across sandy terrain within the forest, featuring 103 bunkers and narrow fairways throughout the layout. The facility includes 15 practice bays, a pro shop, and restaurant services available to members and visitors.
The course was established in 1909 with its original design created by Julien Chantepie before Tom Simpson redesigned it in 1920. Fred Hawtree made additional modifications in 1963 that shaped the layout visitors see today.
The club plays an important role in French golf circles and hosts regular competitions, including the annual Coupe Mouchy tournament. Visitors experience a golfing tradition that has developed over generations within this forest setting.
The course operates seven days a week during the season and welcomes both members and daily visitors throughout the year. The sandy ground and narrow fairways require steady footing and club selection care, so wear appropriate golf shoes for the best experience.
The grounds feature natural tree species including pines, birches, cherry trees, beeches, and ancient oaks that shape the playing experience. Sheep graze and maintain certain areas, adding a traditional pastoral element to the course.
