Gières

Gières is a residential commune located south of Grenoble, spreading across the valley floor and climbing toward mountain slopes. The town serves as a hub for students and researchers, with neighborhoods that blend homes, shops, and green spaces.

This settlement grew from a farming village into a modern suburban town during the 20th century as Grenoble expanded. The arrival of university facilities in the mid-20th century accelerated housing development and transformed the local landscape.
