Aydat

Aydat is a village in the Puys region of Auvergne, France, spread across varied terrain with elevations ranging from around 600 to 1,100 meters (2,000 to 3,600 feet). It sits within a landscape shaped by volcanic geology.

The valley where Aydat sits formed about 8,000 years ago when volcanic activity created a lava flow. This geological event shaped the lake landscape you see today.

The Romanesque church of Saint-Sidoine marks the heart of the settlement with its 12th-century presence. It shows visitors what medieval building methods looked like in this region.

The lake at Aydat invites swimming and water sports, particularly during the warmer months. Various access points along the shore make it easy to reach the water for a visit.
