Château d'Anjony, Medieval fortress in Tournemire, France.

The Château d'Anjony rises 40 meters high with four slim towers constructed from red basalt stone, creating a distinctive silhouette against the Cantal landscape.

Louis d'Anjony, who fought alongside Joan of Arc, constructed this mountain stronghold in 1430 under the authority of King Charles VII to maintain order in Haute-Auvergne.

The Knights' Hall contains Renaissance frescoes depicting nine mounted warriors from chivalric literature, including representations of Charlemagne, King Arthur, and Alexander the Great.

The castle offers guided tours through its rooms, including the decorated chapel, grand entrance hall, and kitchen with its substantial fireplace.

The fortress stands as the center of a three-century rivalry between the Anjony and Tournemire families, which concluded through a marriage that united the opposing clans.
