Le Revest-les-Eaux, Medieval village in Var, France

Le Revest-les-Eaux is a hillside settlement in southeastern France where stone houses with terracotta roofs cluster together in a traditional layout. A watchtower rises above the village, and the surrounding area stretches toward the Mediterranean landscape with scattered gardens and local farms visible on the slopes.

The settlement developed during the Middle Ages when defensive structures became necessary against raids from both land and sea. The fortified layout and watchtower remain as reminders of how inhabitants protected their community during that period.

Local residents maintain traditional Provençal customs through regular markets, festivals, and the practice of pétanque in the village squares.

The village sits on a hillside with narrow lanes that require comfortable walking shoes to navigate the central area. Most spots of interest lie within easy reach of each other once you arrive in the heart of the settlement.

Beneath the village flows the Ragas spring, a natural water source that erupts suddenly after heavy rain and feeds into the Revest lake. This hidden underground feature has shaped how the area developed and where people settled.
