Bobino, Entertainment venue in Montparnasse, Paris, France
Bobino is a theatre and music venue in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, on rue de la Gaîté in Montparnasse. The hall seats 900 and hosts musicals, concerts, dance performances, and comedy shows throughout the year.
The venue was founded in 1873 as a café-concert and became an important stage for music and variety performances in the 20th century. It was demolished in 1985 and later rebuilt, with the musical focus revived from 2010 onward.
The name comes from an Italian clown who performed in the nearby Jardin du Luxembourg during the 19th century and became popular with local audiences. Over the decades, French chanson singers and international artists came here to reach a cosmopolitan crowd.
Performances take place several times a week, usually in the evening, with a choice of different seating categories depending on the program. Tickets can be reserved in advance online or at the box office, with early booking recommended for popular shows.
Édith Piaf, Georges Brassens, Léo Ferré, and Joséphine Baker all performed here when the venue was known as a music hall and chanson stage. The current building replaced the original structure that disappeared in the late 1980s, but the address and tradition remain.
