Théâtre d'Edgar

Théâtre d'Edgar is a café-theatre in the 14th arrondissement with a stage that spans the full width of the auditorium. Around 132 seats are arranged so that every audience member has a clear view of the performances.

The theatre opened in 1975 and became a launching point where French comedians started their careers. Well-known performers like Coluche and Sylvie Joly appeared on this stage before gaining wider recognition.

The theatre hosts performances chosen to match the tastes of its Montparnasse neighborhood audience, showing what kinds of shows Parisians enjoy today. Comedians and performers use the stage to connect directly with the local crowd.

The venue sits on Boulevard Edgar Quinet and is easy to reach by metro line 6 at the Edgar Quinet station. It is also within walking distance from Montparnasse railway station.

In 2014 the owner combined two separate performance areas into one space, giving the venue a fresh layout. This renovation also improved the facilities backstage for performers.
