Buzenval, Metro station in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, France
Buzenval is a metro station on Line 9 in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, located underground beneath Rue de Buzenval. It has two side platforms, with trains running west toward Pont de Sèvres and east toward Mairie de Montreuil.
The station opened in December 1933 as part of an extension of Line 9 from Richelieu-Drouot to Porte de Montreuil. In December 2008, it was renovated as part of the 'Un métro + beau' program, which brought new lighting and a fresher look to the platforms.
The name Buzenval comes from a village that once stood west of Paris, where a battle was fought in January 1871. The entrance on Rue d'Avron occupies a building that was once a cinema and is now used as a supermarket.
The station has two entrances, one on Rue de Buzenval and one on Rue d'Avron, which has an escalator. Several bus lines stop nearby, connecting the neighborhood to destinations not directly served by this metro line.
The Palais Avron cinema that once stood beside the station entrance on Rue d'Avron was itself a replacement for an even older one that had been there since 1913. The original building was replaced in 1936, and since 1977 a supermarket has occupied the site, with no visible sign of its cinema past.
