Château de Puymartin, Medieval castle in Marquay, France
The castle stands between Sarlat and Les Eyzies with four corner towers, displaying elements of military and residential architecture through multiple centuries.
During the Hundred Years War in 1357, the English took control of the castle before the consuls of Sarlat purchased and subsequently abandoned it.
The Mythological Cabinet features interactive exhibits about antiquity, while painted ceilings and Aubusson tapestries decorate the interior rooms.
The castle welcomes visitors with wooden games for children, including Dutch billiards and giant marble runs in the outdoor areas.
The north tower contains a room dedicated to the White Lady, Therese de Saint-Clar, who spent fifteen years imprisoned there in the 1600s.
