Jardins du Trocadéro, Urban park in 16th arrondissement, France
The Trocadéro Gardens are an urban park in the 16th arrondissement that spreads between the Palais de Chaillot and the Seine, featuring multiple levels with fountains and sculptures. The space rises in terraces and opens toward the river and the opposite bank.
The gardens were completely redesigned for the 1937 World Fair and replaced the original 1878 layout that came with the first Palais de Chaillot. This transformation gave them their current form with the water features and tiered design.
The gardens serve as a gathering place where locals and visitors stroll between the water features and find spots to rest on the terraces. Bronze sculptures by various artists shape the look of the space and depict people and animals in different styles.
The gardens are easily reached via the Trocadéro metro station and are free to explore at your own pace. Plan enough time to walk through the different levels and discover all the areas without feeling rushed.
The water system operates from above and creates dramatic effects with numerous jets and cannons working together to produce an impressive display. The fountains are designed so that on good days, their spray and sound can be seen and heard from every corner of the gardens.
