Émetteur de Mulhouse, Broadcasting tower in Rebberg district, Mulhouse, France
The Émetteur de Mulhouse is a broadcasting tower in the Rebberg district of Mulhouse. It rises 194 meters above ground and features a tripod design that minimizes its footprint while maximizing stability for transmitting signals across the region.
This facility was built in 1997 and replaced an older transmission mast from the 1950s that reached only 165 meters. The replacement allowed for more advanced broadcasting capabilities across the Upper Rhine region.
The tower delivers television and radio signals to approximately one million people across three French departments, parts of Switzerland, and Germany.
The tower transmits multiple FM radio stations including France Culture, RTL2, and France Musique across a wide area. It serves listeners in France, Switzerland, and Germany with clear reception in most locations.
In 2016, the tower underwent technical modifications to support MPEG-4 standards, expanding the range of digital television channels available to viewers. These upgrades allowed local audiences access to more programs and improved picture quality.
