Château de Villemolin

Château de Villemolin is a castle in Anthien featuring a horseshoe-shaped structure spread across multiple buildings on its estate. The complex includes three towers connected by different wings that form the overall composition.

The castle was built in the 14th century on the remains of a Roman-era villa and received major modifications over subsequent centuries. The family living there since the 16th century made substantial changes during the Renaissance and made further updates later on.

The neo-Gothic chapel displays a wooden altarpiece donated by Carthusian monks, reflecting the family's connection to spiritual traditions. The artwork inside shows how religion remained important to those living here over the centuries.

The castle is privately owned and requires advance contact before visiting, as the family who lives there maintains it as their residence. You should arrange your visit ahead of time and ask about conditions or times when tours are possible.

Filmmakers selected the castle as a filming location for two mystery movies, including one released in 2002 that used it as a backdrop for suspenseful scenes. The location served not only as a residence but also as a stage for cinema productions.
