Château de Moidière

Château de Moidière is a castle near Lyon surrounded by a 30-hectare natural park that includes meadows, forests, and ponds. The grounds showcase a harmonious mix of architecture and countryside, creating a retreat from the city.

Construction of the castle began in 1660 under Nicolas Scipion Guillet de Moidière and shaped the estate from its start. The building suffered damage during the French Revolution but was later restored to preserve its structure.

The castle takes its name from the Moidière family who made this place their home for generations. Visitors can see today how this connection between the family and the land still shapes the character of the property.

The site welcomes visitors from March to November when weather conditions are most favorable for exploring the grounds. Plan extra time to walk through the natural park and its paths, as the property is large and best seen at a relaxed pace.

The grounds include an arboretum with around 2000 trees representing 72 European species planted over time. This collection offers visitors a rare chance to see botanical diversity from across the continent in one location.
