Pavillon Gabriel, Palace wing at Versailles, France

Pavillon Gabriel is a wing of the Palace of Versailles located between the Cour Royale and Cour Gabriel. The structure contains multiple rooms for events and shows how different areas of the complex connect together.

Architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel started building this wing in the 1770s as part of a major expansion of the palace. Construction stretched over many decades as money and politics interrupted the work multiple times.

The wing displays French building craft through its proportions and decorative details that fit into the palace's overall design. You can see these handmade elements in every room and understand how they shaped the place.

This part of the palace is best viewed from outside to see how it sits between the two courtyards. It is easy to reach on foot and accessible as part of the overall grounds, though some areas may be closed to visitors.

Inside the wing is a modern media studio with a large projection screen used for events and productions. This shows how the historic building serves contemporary purposes today.
