Arthur, the 4D Adventure, 4D amusement ride at Futuroscope theme park, France
Arthur, the 4D Adventure is a motion simulator attraction at Futuroscope theme park featuring a hemispherical OMNIMAX screen and seats that synchronize with 3D animation film sequences. The system moves in real-time with scenes depicting tiny creatures, creating an immersive experience where you feel directly involved in the action.
The attraction was built in 2009 using a 6 million euro investment from the Vienne General Council, replacing the former Atlantis Challenge ride. This marked a turning point in the park's evolution toward motion-based entertainment technology.
The ride draws from filmmaker Luc Besson's Arthur and the Minimoys trilogy, inviting visitors to pilot flying ladybugs through a miniature world. As you move through this microscopic dimension, you experience the adventure of the main character exploring this fantastical environment.
Visitors must be at least 1.05 meters (3 feet 5 inches) tall to ride, and those under 1.20 meters (3 feet 11 inches) need adult supervision. Wear loose clothing and secure any loose items, as the seats move during the film.
The attraction received the Themed Entertainment Association's award for best attraction of 2011, recognizing its technical innovations. This honor reflected how groundbreaking the system was when it first opened.
