Petit-Saut Dam, Hydroelectric power station in Sinnamary, French Guiana.

The Petit-Saut Dam extends 740 meters across the Sinnamary River, utilizing four Kaplan turbines to generate electricity for French Guiana's coastal regions.

The construction of this major infrastructure project began in July 1989, with concrete placement starting in 1992 and final completion achieved in February 1993.

The dam's construction marked a transformation in French Guiana's energy infrastructure, establishing a foundation for regional electrical independence.

Located 36 kilometers south of Sinnamary town, the facility maintains a generation capacity of 116 megawatts through its power station operations.

The reservoir created by the dam holds 3.5 billion cubic meters of water, covering an area of 365 square kilometers in the Guianese rainforest.
