Boucherie Pinson, Historical butcher shop in Chartres, France.

Boucherie Pinson is an old butcher shop at 4 rue du Soleil-d'Or in Chartres. Its storefront has a red marble base, a window divided by thin iron bars, and a cast-iron transom with open scrollwork separated from the glass by a rail carved with butcher's hooks. A wooden panel reads "4 boucherie 4", topped by a scroll bearing the name "R. Pinson".

The butcher shop opened at this spot in 1892, and its storefront was made by a craftsman named Maréchal. The entire shop, storefront included, was listed as a monument historique on 4 October 2006.

The name R. Pinson appears on a phylactery crowning the facade, above the wooden panel reading "4 boucherie 4". The storefront uses a range of reds, blood-red and cardinal, the traditional colour of the butcher's trade. A projecting cast-iron lambrequin protects the roller shutter, worked by a gear system.

The former shop stands at the corner of rue du Soleil-d'Or, where the facade faces, and rue Henri-Garnier, at no. 4 and no. 2 respectively, in central Chartres. The storefront is viewed from the street; the door sits in the middle of the facade and interrupts the red marble base.

The shopfront was made by a craftsman named Maréchal, and the whole shop with its front was listed as a monument historique on 4 October 2006. Look for the butcher's hooks (crocs de boucher) on the crossbar between the glass and the cast-iron transom, and again in the centre of the upper side panels.
