Boulevard Carnot, Heritage boulevard in Cannes, France.
Boulevard Carnot is a long, wide avenue that runs through Cannes and extends into Le Cannet. The street is lined with buildings from various periods, including residential and commercial structures that shape the public space with their facades.
The avenue was built between 1875 and 1883 following the initiative of banker Henri Germain, who used a real estate company to carry out the project. Architect Durand designed the layout and gave the boulevard its present shape.
The street displays the refined architectural style of the late 19th century, particularly around the Lycée Carnot with its distinctive facades. You can see how the area became a place where wealthy residents built their homes and how it developed into a center for learning and commerce.
Several bus lines run along here, making it easy to move around and reach different areas. Shops, restaurants, and offices line the route where you can easily stop to eat or shop.
Until 1894, the street was named Boulevard de la Foncière-Lyonnaise, after the real estate company that created it. Following the assassination of President Sadi Carnot, it was renamed in his honor.
