CHM Montalivet

CHM Montalivet is a naturist resort spread across 200 hectares of pine forest near the Atlantic Ocean, with about 3,000 camping spots arranged in 21 separate villages. Guests can stay in mobile homes, chalets, pitches, or ready-set tents, and enjoy direct access to a naturist beach and a water park with multiple slides.

It was founded in 1950 and hosted the formation of the International Naturist Federation in 1953, a turning point for organized naturism. This made it an important center for naturist practices in Europe and beyond.

The place holds a museum dedicated to the history of naturism, featuring photographs and documents that show how this lifestyle developed and spread. Visitors get a sense of what naturism means to the communities that practice it here.

Arriving by car is best since the site spreads across a large forest area away from town. Book ahead, especially in peak season, and be ready to follow the place's guidelines, as it maintains clear community standards and etiquette rules.

The whole place is linked by about 12 kilometers of roads connecting all the villages, creating a surprisingly organized community within nature. Around 200 seasonal staff work year-round to coordinate activities ranging from yoga to sports, keeping things running smoothly.
