Château Saint-Lambert

Château Saint-Lambert is a stone château located in Lioux at an elevation of roughly 700 meters (2,300 feet) in the Vaucluse mountains. The structure sits near the municipalities of Murs and Gordes within the Luberon region.

The building was constructed in the 17th century and served as a noble residence for the Astouaud family before undergoing modifications in the 18th century. In 1932, it transitioned into a sanatorium and subsequently operated as part of the Montfavet Hospital Center.

The château displays features of Provençal Renaissance design, incorporating local building techniques from that period. The architecture reflects the regional craftsmanship visible in southern French construction methods of the era.

The location sits elevated in the mountains, requiring travel along uphill mountain roads to reach it. Visitors should expect limited or no public amenities and take care when traveling to this remote setting.

Since 2018, the site has been operated by Diderot Education and transformed from a medical facility into an academic institution. This shift from healthcare to education shows how historical locations in the region take on new purposes.
