The castle was built between 1576 and 1580 by Monseigneur Gallois Regard, who gained influence through his work with popes in Rome.
Saint Francis de Sales received his tonsure ceremony in the castle chapel during 1578, marking a significant moment in French religious history.
The castle welcomes visitors from April through October, with guided tours available Tuesday through Sunday and special operating hours during school holidays.
The stones used to construct this Renaissance residence came from a previous medieval castle that belonged to the Counts of Geneva.
