The castle features a central rectangular structure with two square pavilions advancing from the western facade, complemented by service buildings around a courtyard.
The castle served as a defensive structure for the Abbey of Cluny since the 11th century and underwent a significant siege by French forces in 1471.
The property belonged to poet Alphonse de Lamartine, whose family tomb remains in the adjacent community cemetery, marking his enduring connection to Saint-Point.
The castle welcomes visitors for guided tours from July to September, with special openings during Easter, Ascension, and Pentecost weekends at 10€ for adults.
The eastern facade received modifications in the 19th century, including balcony additions to windows and a passage door connecting different floor levels.
