Château de Sanzay, Medieval castle in Argentonnay, France

The stone castle features a main keep, entrance gatehouse, guard building with artillery tower, and Gothic chapel door set within ancient moats.

Built in the 13th century on a former Gallo-Roman settlement, the castle endured two English attacks in the 12th and 14th centuries.

The association La Colporteuse manages the castle as a social center, offering youth activities, nature programs, and educational workshops throughout the year.

Visitors can access the castle from January to September, Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with parking facilities available.

The castle moat received designation as a Sensitive Natural Area in 2013, supporting a 300-meter interpretive trail highlighting local flora and fauna.
