Château de Beaumarchais

The Château de Beaumarchais is a Renaissance castle in the coastal town of Bretignolles-sur-Mer, notable for its stone facades and protective roof systems. A distinctive feature is the remarkable fireplace in the western salon of the ground floor, which reflects the domestic life of its era.

Vincent Bouhier de L'Ecluse constructed this defensive structure during the Renaissance on the foundations of an earlier building from the same century. The continuity of occupation on this site across generations shows how important the location was for local control and settlement.

The castle's name reflects its historical importance and is recognized by locals as a significant landmark of their region. It represents the Renaissance architectural tradition found in this coastal area.
