Château de la Côte-au-Chapt

The Château de la Côte-au-Chapt features a circular tower with six levels, complete with internal spiral staircase connecting multiple defensive positions and living quarters.

Built during the Hundred Years' War, the castle tower was constructed by Ytier du Breuil to demonstrate loyalty to the French crown in the late 14th century.

The castle contains architectural elements from different periods, including cruciform arrow slits and cannon embrasures, showing the evolution of military construction techniques.

The castle remains are protected under French heritage laws, with the dungeon and surrounding walls receiving official monument status in 1988 and 1989.

The castle entrance was originally positioned more than five meters above ground level, accessed through a specific door that has now transformed into a breach.
